Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, is celebrated annually on 31 October to honour the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. Patel’s decisive leadership during India’s formative years ensured the integration of more than 560 princely states, preventing territorial fragmentation and creating a strong, united nation.
